The Telescope was a room. In the cenre of the room was a single hexagon, at the centre of a ring of six surrounding hexagons. The whole arrangment looked like a flower etched onto the floor.
The room was circular and domed such that it could be difficult to detect the edges of the space. Depending on the lighting it could feel enclosed and at times claustrophobic. At other times the walls could dissolve into an infinite void of pure white.
The first time I visited the space, it felt unassuming - enclosed. Safe. Lianne described it as a meditative space. It was somewhere I could come to relax, and clear my mind after a days work.
It was only later that I understood the true purpose of the room - when I understood that to `meditate` meant way more than to relax, and that to "see far" was - well - the true definition of the meaning of `telescope`.
Initially it was a place of learning. I learned for instance that Visual Modulation was:
> The visual modulation (VM), as it came to be known, served as a one-way conduit of information from the stars to us. Apparently there were quite a few chatterboxes sending us signals, and now that we were able to listen it was interesting what they had to say.
These words were printed on the walls. Sometimes I heard them spoken. Not aloud. But inside mey head - directly inside. I learned many things about telescopes - starting with their history.
